Oldlane17.com originally started as a little project to create an unconventional gift for my girlfriend. Fortunately she liked the result and the unconventional approach of a gift. As I continued to improve the present I realised that some parts of the website are useful and that they can compete with already existing products or that they are a complete new type of tool. I started thinking about what kind of software I had been looking for in the past and unfortunately I didn't find an easy solution. Often the functions were behind a paywall or spread over several different sites from different providers and no one could offer a complete solution. This was sobering and the creation of my own algorithms and programs came within reach.
To offer simple, ad-free tools that cover a niche, but cover it completely and that the constant potential for improvement is also utilized. That Wirth's Law is followed and that the execution of the programs remains as simple as possible, both in terms of hardware resources and usability for the user.
Nevertheless, not everything can be rewritten, so Oldlane17 also aims to serve as a reputable source for obtaining information on quality existing software and hardware, to spread scientific interest and to help readers/users realize their own specific goals in the field of algorithms and also offer the possibility to learn everyday.
